As 2009 comes rapidly to a close and we begin to contemplate what 2010 will hold for all of us, I would like to tell you about the most exciting change ever at the Home Team AdvantEdge Company.  I have been in real estate for well over a decade and for more than half of that time I have owned and operated Home Team AdvantEdge Company.  It has been amazingly rewarding experience and I have all of you to thank for my success. 
From the beginning, however, I knew that there were some drawbacks to having a smaller company.  While my experience and credentials combine to put in the very highest category of real estate professionals, there are still areas where my expertise is limited.  This same sentiment is being echoed throughout the real estate industry - as I have traveled across the country in the last several years to attend real estate conventions and trainings, I have constantly come across the “team” approach to helping buyers and sellers.
A number of companies have actually approached me in the past to work with their agents and for their company; typically these offers have not seemed to be in the best overall interests of my clients.  Some companies, for example, would prefer that their agents often take the “path of least resistance” to facilitate a transaction.  I have not and could not compromise my clients’ interests in order for the company and the agents to have a sale.
Last month, however, I was asked to be a member of a team of agents at Keller Williams in Worcester and this was the proverbial offer that I could not refuse.  Jeff Hall, who has been involved in real estate for a generation in Worcester, and with whom I have worked in the past, asked me if I would be interested in becoming the buyer specialist on his team of agents at the Keller Williams office.  Jeff is the current president of the Greater Worcester Board of Realtors and his personal request was quite compelling.
I explained to Jeff that I would still want to be able to work with any of my past clients in any capacity that they would need. Also, I have developed documents over the last 10+ years that I would want to continue to use to protect my clients’ interests. Jeff told me that Keller Williams would be able to accommodate all of my requests and that the satisfaction of the clients was always of paramount importance.  Personally and professionally I looked at this as a chance to work with dozens of intelligent and experienced real estate professionals – from agents, to mortgage specialists, to attorneys, and more.
Keller Williams, for their part, was eager to have my expertise added to their office, particularly when they learned that I was a certified real estate educator – less than a week after I began I was I was mentoring younger agents at the office and am planning an in depth seminar on buyer agency.

 

 

       

As I have said, I have not been this excited for both myself and my clients in a long time.  As a testament to the respect that Keller Williams has afforded me and my business model, the new team will be called Hall Team AdvantEdge and it will incorporate many of the ideas that I have developed over the years to help my clients.
